Ciao Totiano
I'm writing it also in English in case there are things unclear from my frail Italian
There are two mentions to an attack to HMS Wishart by Borghese. The first was published more than 30 years ago by Alcofar Nassaes, he quotes a letter from a member of the crew of Iride but he just gives the initials of his name. It says that "some days after attacking HMS Havock we attacked HMS Wishart, but we missed". I didn't pay much attention to this, but a couple of weeks ago I got an "authorized" biography of Borghese by Sergio Nesi and it said that on the night after the attack to HMS Havock, while they were charging batteries, Borghese saw another destroyer, HMS Wishart. They quickly immersed and shot their last torpedo. They missed and had no reaction from the destroyer which seemed not to have noticed the torpedo. Just after this they received a radio message from Roma asking them to return immediately. Nesi doesn't quote his source, but seems to be a different one from Alcofar Nassaes. About the attack to HMS Havock there is no doubt Borghese thought it was a Spanish destroyer, which is quite normal as HMS Havock had been designed by the same naval architect as the Spanish destroyers. Maybe contacting Nesi would be useful to find out about the second attack.
