Guest Marcuzzo Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) Ieri mattina, mentre facevo la rituale passeggiata al porto, ho visto ai lavori in uno dei 5 cantieri di Licata, un veliero il quale ha subito attirato la mia attenzione. Mi sono armato di fotocamera digitale e mi sono recato sul luogo. All'interno del cantiere, intrufolatomi come al solito a faccia tosta, ho visto questo gioiellino a palo del 1921, con equipaggio inglese il quale vive tra Malta, Sicilia e Calabria, l'ultimo brigantino originale. I chiodi sono ancora quelli in bronzo realizzati a mano. Un autentico gioiello!!! Eccovi le 24 foto che ho scattato. Putroppo non è stato possibile salire a bordo, ma è sempre meglio di un calcio in cu#o!!! :s02: C'è anche l'Andrea Doria!!! Questo brigantino a paolo dispone inoltre di un sito tutto suo da dove poter attingere altre info, ma è in tedesco. Inoltre sono lieto di vedere che in Sicilia c'è una fiorente attività cantieristica connessa a natanti di valore storico, indice di maestranza sicuramente specializzate... E poi dicono del Sud! Da noi quel genere di cantieristica è del tutto scomparsa... O, al limite, io non ne sono a conoscenza! Quote

Un pò di storia: Il brigantino Florette in costruzione nel cantiere Picchiotti di Limite d'Arno. Lungo tutta la costa della Liguria e della Toscana, laddove esisteva un arenile sufficientemente ampio, venivano creati cantieri navali dai quali uscivano robusti bastimenti costruiti da abili maestri d'ascia. Dalle spiagge toscane, del Golfo della Spezia, a Riva Trigoso, a Chiavari, Recco, Cornigliano, Sestri, Prà, Voltri, Varazze, Loano e Savona vennero per tutto il secolo XIX continuamente varati bellissimi alcioni del mare che fecero grande la marineria mercantile della Liguria. Il Florette venne varato nel 1921 per conto dell'Armatore Giovanni Telaro con porto di Armamento Viareggio. Venne adibito sopratutto al trasporto del marmo da Carrara principalmente verso i porti del Mediterraneo. E' uno degli ultimi velieri del Mediterraneo progettati e costruiti senza motore. Lungo mt. 40, largo 7, immersione 3,20 mt., altezza albero maestro 25 mt. sul ponte. Superficie velica 550 mq. Velocità 12 nodi. E' uno dei pochi brigantini ancora in esercizio: acquistato in seguito da Ron Haynes, attuale Armatore, venne trasformato in nave da diporto pur mantenendo intatte le qualità e le caratteristiche originarie. Oggi effettua crociere turistiche nelle località più belle del Mediterraneo, mantenendo viva l'antica tradizione velica del nostro mare. Il porto di armamento è Valletta, Malta.
