Non mi pare però che abbiano mai indossato la veste mercantile in quanto, sebbene impostate come bananiere, vennero militarizzate dalla Kriegsmarine quando ancora si trovavano sugli scali. Entrambe commissionate, ripettivamente nel 1937 e 1938, al cantiere Deutsche Werft di Amburgo dalla Oldemburg Portugiesische Dampfschiff Rhederei come bananiere, ma mai entrate in servizio mercantile. In questo caso, l'inchiesta concluse che probabilmente la nave si era spezzata in due in una tempesta a causa dell'inadeguata distribuzione del carico... Sopravvissuta a siluramento nella Grande Guerra e poi ad incaglio che la fece inizialmente considerare irrimediabilmente danneggiata, violatrice di blocco dal Brasile alla Francia e poi dalla Francia alla Germania attraverso la Manica, autoaffondata dai tedeschi ad Amsterdam nel 1944.
