Marco U-78 Scirè Posted November 14, 2006 Report Share Posted November 14, 2006 The Italian Sub Reginaldo Guiliano arrived in Singapore late in summer 1943 was captured by the Germans and renamed UIT23 . This craft manned by a crew of Germans and Italians was sunk in the Malacca Canal by the British submarine Tally Ho on 14 Feb 44 off Penang, Malaya. She had been stripped of all fighting equipment and turned into a cargo sub by the Germans to secretly smuggle goods from Asia back to Germany. Her exact loctation uncharted we found her by sidescanning. She was found lying in 55m of water a long way from her approx reported position. I suspect looking at the photos that as well as her fighting gear she was also stripped of all her deck and non essential fittings so as to increase her cargo load capacity. Link alle foto... Totiano* Posted November 14, 2006 Report Share Posted November 14, 2006 che foto meravigliose... mi sembra che si siano molti sedimenti all'interno, probabilmente lo scafo ha una breccia molto grande... ancora gomma nei tubi di lancio, chissàcosa altro potrebbe emergere se non fosse che si va a disturbare dei caduti.... mi da da pensare l'affermazione che sia stato trovato dalla posizione del presunto affondamento. mi spiego: se è stato affondato da un siluro del tallyho la falla lo dovrebbe far affondare immediatamente. se il siluro non è esploso in prossimitàuna serie di falle ed avarie potrebbe giusificare la lontananza dal punto dove si ipotizzava affondato, nel tentativo del Giuliani di evadere dal battello inglese. ma se le falle sono piccole come mai c'è tanto deposito sul fondo del battello?
