Memorie Di Un Seal Israeliano

Messaggi raccomandati

MARCO,

this is a real special story...at about 1950, the Navy seals wanted Chariots... after some time blue-prints and some parts arrived from Italy

the parts were brought in secret to a Machanic Shop in Tel Aviv , were a Mr Porat tried to make a Chariot. it was very difficult in the beginning. they were slow , 3 KN only, and the Batteries died too fast...the first one was put into a Swimming pool for test. problems continued.

Cdr Herzel Navon was in Charge on this development for many years. some sailors called the Chariot by the name BALLERINA -as she was beautiful but could not do anything...at the time.

when I arrived in 1954 in the base of the Navy Seals 13, Cdr Herzel Navon took me for a ride on the Pig. I was in a rubber PIRELLI suit, and a Oxygen -Calzium Cersi Diving Apparatus. we had 30 min only on the pig. Many times the Battery exploded...or the pig went dead, and a long cable had to pull out the poor Pig. but thanks to Cdr Herzel Navon things got better in time. I am sure that Cdr Capriotti knows parts of this story.

changes were made in the Pig, and slowly things got better. the first Pig is now in the Navy Museum...where all my friend smile when we see it remembering all the trouble in the Old Days.

our Navy is now in new directions. the Submarines are the Jewel and Gold of the Navy. but the Navy seals Unit 13 is still alive, with State-of The Art new weapons..that I could not dream of in 1954..

in 1956 we went down to the Suex Cannal to blow up the undewater Fuel lines in the sea of the Arab Flottila in Egypt.

we were 5 Seals , a rubber boat, no engine, wooden oars, 10 Limped Mines. these mines were the size of a cooking pot, and full of wxplosive, and the fuse was a strong spring locked by a compressed Salt Pallet. when the Salt got water in the sea . it would desolve and after 2 hours it would explode...

at night we moved the bat into the sea, and after 3 hours we arrive above the underwater pipes. about 4 meters deep. we put the Limped Magnetic Mines on the pipes, took off the lid from the fuse, and road back to the Israeli side.

we came back with 4 mines , wet.. in the mornning we went to eat, and then the mines exploded ..as they were wet. we were lucky to be alive, it took 20 days to send us a Machenic to repair our car... and get back to our base.

real luck that we came back alive. the fuses have been changed. mOK now

Grazie a Michael per il nuovo racconto תודה מיקי ( if I'm not wrong ). Shayetet 13 forever!

this story is about the KAYAK TRAINING. the Kayak was about 2.8 meters long, 40 KG. it ha 2 Navy seals inside, with wooden oars a small compass, 2 Limped Magnetic Mines, 1 liter of water.

the group was 10 Navy Seals. 5 Kayks, on a small ship. about 12 KM from the shore, at 2200, they put us in the sea. we had to make it to shore, in the darkness, 12KM. No Radio. just a small compass. we had to make it before day break

we rowed for 4 hours, arriving to the shore in breaking waves....not easy. then we had to cover the kayak with sand, carefully, to keep it secret. from that point we had to enter the Big Fish Ponds of a Kibbutz nearby, and wait for the sun to rise...then the Officers came to look for us, and see if we had made it 100% OK, not to be seen. The Mosqitoes were bitting our face really red and swollen!

at 1000 a big truck came to the shore, and we were called out, have the Kayks put on the Truck, and at 1130 we had some hot drink of Chocklate and egges in the base......................I shall never forget that hot Chokolate!

these Kayaks were used up to 1961 , as they were not seen by RADAR, and were very low in the water. this just one of the Navy seals weapons at the time. we made hundreds of miles in 3.5 years.

eccovi un'altro raconto....

DIVING TRAINING 1955

4 times every week we were brought to Haifa Port, with all our equipment, to `attack` the ships in the Harbour.

we were 12 seals, each with PIRELLI rubber suit, CRESI ITALIAN oxygen rubber diving apparatus, on the back a 4.5 KG Limped Magnetic Mine, a knife, a scrapper, glass goggles. a elec torch.

we were taken every time out of the Harbour with a big boat, dressed our equipment, and at 2200, get into the cold water , about 400 meters from thr Breakwater. we dived with the Hand Compass, each 2 connected by a 2 meter rope in pairs.

on reaching the breakwater , we got on the surface , and trying to `catch` a wave -we get on the breakwater, from there into to oily harbour....

we take a Bearing to the ship on our compass, and dive, 12 meters deep. now it is about 2330. .dark. dirty. oily. but the difficult part was when a Ship entered now the port. we go right down to the bottom and the ship comes above us, its 400,000 Horse Powers engines right above. we have only 12 min of Oxygen left. we try to be calm, it takes about 6 min for the ship to clear away.... we go up to get freshh air...not easy...

once, on a cold winter night, at 0200, we had to pee..................(pee pee} we got into the WC of the navy , rolled down our rubber suit....and just as we` let go.`..a drunken sailor entered... he looked and saw 2 BLACK OILY CREATURES WITH A LUMP ON THE BACK NOT MOVING -FROZEN...and he ran , screaming.! ...we got away really fast...

next mornning the sailor said the 2 STRANGE 3 LEGGED CREATURES LOOKING LIKE THE DEVIL... ENTERED THE LATRINE...

we smilled, but kept silent !

THE ATTACK ON THE SHIP `LINO`

we had a very special Navy seal called YOSI DROR. in 1948 the Arabs bought 8000 rifles and 8,000,000 rounds of ammunition from Yugoslavia, and put it on a ship called LINO. this amount at the time was large , as the Israeli side did not have Enough weapons....

the ship sailed to BARI in Italy...planning to sail from there to Lebanon...Yosi Dror arrived, and prepare a underwater mine made out of rubber tire of a motorbike filled with TNT. Yosi with another Navy seal called ,Beni got to the port of Bari, in a truck...an old skelton ship was 200 meters from the LINO. nearby was a BRITISH DISTROYER in full electric light. first time they did not make it, as there was a small boat nearby the Lino full with sailors fishing in the port..they had to swim back to shore.

next time , on the 9 APRIL 1948, they swam again ..as usual at night. they got to the LINO , and fixed the underwater tire with a Clamp, pressed the fuses, and swimming back arrived safely ashore . nobody in BARI saw them.

in the mornning the tire exploded, the LINO and the Rifels went down in the harbour.

a week later the Italians and the Arab crew got the rifels out of the water, and got them away on another ship. near CRETE the israeli Navy attacked the ship, and took her to a distance, were to Israeli navy ships waited, and got all the rifels and ammunition on the Israeli ships.

This YOSI DROR later bought Diving gear from CERSI in ITALY with the help of

a X FLOTTILA SEAL called LUIGI FERRERO.

we never forget the help we received from ITALY.

NOT LWAYS THINGS WHENT RIGHT. HERE IS ONE.

in the training time , there were 2 facts that made The Seals different from the simple sailors arround:

we had a special SWISS DIVING WATCH on our arm.

we had Paratroopers wings on our uniform.

this was highly importnt , as we belived that the young girls will be impressed by these 2 facts...so..

so the Paratroopers course was more important then just Military Use...we thought.

we arrived at the Paratroopers Camp for one week, and minimum 5 jumps from Frnch Planes NORDE. we got on all well, but after 4 jumps we were told to stay for 2 more nights, as the plane is repaired, and our last jump will be in 2 days, and then RECEIVING THE WINGS on our uniform. and here I made a BIG MISTAKE.

I called Yoram, my fellow diver, and talked him into escaping Camp to the local town to meet...girls. we re entered the camp through a hole in the fence.. at 0200 night...and entering the Barracks..we found the Hall.................empty. all had the last jump at 1800, got the WINGS at 2200 ...and a pass for Home...

all night we waited on the floor ..sad... I was 50 Kg, Yoram was 90 KG, and I asked him to be the BACKGROUND in the trial in the mornning, and LET ME TALK!!

in the morning, 0700, every window opened, and soldiers were laughing at us ...4000 soldiers knew exactlly what happened.

we got to the HC, and the Cdr was waiting...a big fellow was a large beared...and black eyes.

`WE ARE PREPARED FOR ANY PUNISHMENT, WE RAN AWAY TO SEE GIRLS IN TOWN, BUT PLEASE LET US JUMP>........................`

there was real Silence. we stood like greek marble stone. NOT MOVING.

LISTEN TO ME--THE COMMANDER SPOKE..AS YOU SPOKE RIGHT STRAIGHT _YOU WILL JUMP. AND I SHALL GIVE YOU THE WINGS!~`

I never can remember how we got to the Base i he Navy next day! we were so happy...and silent!

getting a harbour map.

well, after long swimming and diving adventures, the commanders decided we need a brain test. vision. inteligence. special. 1955. we were given civilan clothes, a cheap hotel in Haifa, and 80 dollars, a 1 X 1 meter white paper , and penciles. GET A PLAN OF HAIFA PORT, THE SHIPS, ENTERNCE, NAMES OF THE GUARDS, ALL THE FENCE, POSSIBLE ILLIGAL ENTRY...AND PUT IN PAPER.

it was unusual. we were allowed to lie, hide. run, anything...but NOT to get cought!. the HC of Haifa Police knew about this. we had one week to get a real self--made--map of Haifa port. alone. and we are only 20 years old...at the time.

on day one, it was a problem HOW TO GET INTO PORT. I bought a tin with red paint, and a large brush..and entered at 0600 with hundreds of workers.. one fellow got on a train...and got in. but 2 fellows `took` the black Lincolen Car of the Municipality of Haifa, got a Captains cap...and drove down to the port. the Gates were opened immidiatly when they arrived !!

in a week, we got friendly with the gaurds, sailors, workers, and at night we got on the huge paper a real map of Haifa Port, every Gate, every Lamp post, every ship, names of the guards...boats, fishing vessels . illigal ways of entery--EXCELLENT.!! I shall never forget it. in a week we became gowen up!!

after 2 days we returned the Lincolen Car to the city Hall.

as NAVY SEALS we got now open eyes and original thinking.

ashore in a storm.

in the winter of 1956, we had to make 80 miles from ashkelon to Haifa, on a 3 day tour with Kayaks. 5 Kayaks, 10 Navy Seals , rowing out at sea. the wether got worse , and on the second day hell broke out. it was Force 8, westerly, and the waves were really angry.

our Commander made up his mind that we have to get back to shore. on a open sandy beach we landed , in breaking waves a, and capsized...we got a shore wet, tired, hungry and really cold. nobody around, we buried our Kayaks, covered them with sand, took the box-of food with us and went over the sand dunes..desparate for an impossible hot-cup-of-tea..dreaming. nobody insight.

after about 40 min we saw a small hut in a sand quary. here, in the daytime, trucks would come to collect sand for concrete building construction.we approached the hut, and me saw a 50 year old guard, living in this 4 by 4 meter hut....near by, on his table was a big cooking pot and a bag of tea...........

we stayed here , for 2 days and 2 nights. the gaurd was a strange fellow--his wife left him 20 years ago...and he lived here alone `AWAY FROM THE BAD WORLD`. we listened to his bitter stories about BAD WOMEN all day, drank tea all the time--and kept silent...............................

all over he tried to ask us `WERE DID YOU COME FROM? WHY ARE YOU ALL WET?` .....................we kept silent...............

after 2 night a Navy 4X4 big truck arrived... we digged the Kayaks out of the sand...got them on the truck....I STILL CAN SEE BEFORE ME THE OPEN MOUTH OF THE OLD GAURD.

sharks.

on rare occasions we were allowed to dive with simple civilian diving gear and dog fishing. this we could do on a sunny afternoon for one hour. we liked it, no TIME TABLE, no MINES, no SHIPS...just looking for fish....peacefully..................

in the 1950`s there were a lot of fish arround the coastline. alone, the clear sea , many small fishes arround, and you can hear the air going in and out. you dream to see a young girl diving- but that never happened. you look for sea treasures - but you never see them. nevertheless. it is beautiful , as anyone that dives knows how peacefull and silent it is , the sun rays dancing in the clear, blue water, you have a spear gun, fishes, and all is calm...

suddenly, at a distance of 4 meters I see a Shark....not a big one, only about 1.5 Meters long...I can see clearly his ice cold eyes , and his Slow , Royal, swimming...I feel myself breathing really fast , frozen with terror, holding my small spear gun..looking at this beautiful creature...moving swiftly, slowly , like the King of the Sea... and then he slowly moves away into the deep blue sea..and vanishes..............

I swimm out of the water, saying softly............`I HAD ENOUGH TODAY`.....

una nuova storia...davvero divertente, in effetti!

ONCE A WEEK WE HAD TO MAKE `SHORE BASE HIDING`. AT NIGHT, ABOUT 2200 , DRESSED IN PIRELLI RUBBER SUITS, FLIPPERS, HAND COMPASS. 10 NAVY SEALS WERE PUT NEAR A SHORE LINE, ABOUT 300 METERS AT SEA. DARK.

WE SWIMM VERY SILENTLY TO THE SHORE, WERE MANY PEOPLE ARE SITTING, DRINKING BEER, .............WE VERY CAREFULLY CLIMB OUT OF THE WATER, AND AT 2300 WE ARE UNDER BUSHES , LYING IN OUR RUBBER SUITS...VERY QUITE... OUR COMMANDERS ARE WALKING ABOUT IN CIVILAN CLOTHES... WATCHING...LOOKING.

5 MIN LATER, A YOUNG 17 YEAR OLD BOY AND A PRETTY GIRL SIT ON THE SAND ABOUT 5 METERS FROM ME... HE BEGINNES TO TRY AND GET HER CLOTHES OFF... BUT SHE REFUSES...NO LUCK... ON AND ON............

THIS GOES ON FOR ABOUT AN HOUR..WHEN THE YOUNG BOY..THAT I RECOGNISE FROM MY TOWN..GIVES UP AND WALKS OVER TO MY BUSH ..TO HAVE A PEE... I FEEL THE WARM FLUID COMING DOWN ON MY LEG, THIS TIME I AM HAPPY TO HAVE MY R U B B E R SUIT ON! HE DOES NOT SEE ME!!!..AND THEY WALK AWAY..

I SEE HIM OFTEN..HE IS MARRIED WITH 4 CHILDREN..I SMILE............EVERY TIME I SEE HIM HE SAYS TO ME : WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS SMILING? WHAT IS SO FUNNY ABOUT THE WORLD?

ISRAELI SEALS ON VACATION.

AFTER A YEAR OF HARD TRAINING...WE GOT A 10 DAY VACATION. MY PARTNER FOR DIVING , YORAM WAS 90 KG, AND ME, ONLY 55 KG. YORAN MADE US GO ON A TRIP TO THE ...DESERT IN THE SOUTH OF ISRAEL. IN THOSE DAYS THERE WERE NO MAPS OF THIS DESERT , CALLED `NEGEV`.

WE TOOK 2 STEN SUB-MACHINEGUNS, AMMUNITION, WATER, A LITTLE FOOD...ON OUR WAY. WE GOT OF AT THE LAST BUS STATION. WE BEGAN OUR 5 DAYS TOUR , THAT ALMOST COST OUT LIVES...

ON DAY 2 WE ARRIVED AT A DEEP CRATER, 8 KM LONG , 3 KM WIDE, AND..330 METRS DEEP. I WANTED TO FIND A PATHWAY TO GO DOWN THE 330 METERS, BUT MY FRIEND SAID :` WE, ISRAELI SEALS, WE DO NOT NEED A PATHWAY. WE GO STRAUGHT DOWN`..A BIG MISTAKE!

I WENT AHEAD, VERY SOON IT BECAME VERT STEEP, AND ALL THE SOIL FALLING UNDER ME... I LET GO TO MY RIFEL AND BAG...AND BLEEDING BADLY I GOT DOWN THE 330 METERS...ALMOST DEAD...BUT ALIVE. I WAITED FOR 30 MIN...I CANNOT SEE YORAM. AFTER AN HOUR I HEAR HIM SHOWTING :

`I AM FALLING . I SHALL DIE. TELL MY GIRLFRIEND THAT I LOVED HER`!! I SAW HIM ABOUT 100 METERS HIGH CLINGGING TO A ROCK...GOING SOON TO FALL...

I KNEW THAT I MUST GIVE HIM A REASON TO FIGHT, SYCOLOGICALLY: I SAID...AS I KNEW THAT HE HAD A RENTTED APPARTMENT IN JERUSALEM...IN THOSE DAYS TO INVITE YOUNG GIRLS TO YOUR PRIVATE APPARTTMENT:

`` WILL YOU PLEASE PUT YOUR HAND IN YOUR POCKET, AND THROUGH DOWN YOUR KEY FOR YOUR HOUSE??``

SILENCE. 5 MIN WENT BY. SILENCE... I SAW HIM THINKING HARD.

``NO WAY`` HE SHOUTTED! ``NO WAY! NOW TELL ME WERE TO PUT MY FOOT, AND G U I D E ME DOWN!!``

SO, CAREFULLY, STEP BY STEP, I GOT HIM SAFELY DOWN...ALIVE.

WE NEVER FORGET THIS TRIP. .......................NOWADAYS, WHEN YORAM PHONES ABOUT FINNACIAL OR FAMILY PROBLEMS, I SAY TO HIM : ``COME DOWN TO THE CRATER IN THE DESERT, AND I SHALL SOVE YOUR PROBLEMS IMMIDIATLY``!

TRAINING ON FISHING VESSELS.

AFTER 3 YEARS OF TRAINING, IT WAS DECIDED BY HQ OF THE NAVY SEALS 13, THAT WE ALL HAVE TO GO TO A 90 DAY TRAINING ON REAL FISHING VESSELS.

``MAYBE ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE TO ESCAPE AS A FISHERMAN`` SAID MY COMMANDER.

I WAS SENT TO A VESSEL CALLED ``DOLPHIN`` , AND HER COMMANDER WAS A GERMAN BORN X SUBMARINE CAPTAIN. HIS NAME WAS CARL PITCH. HE RAN THE SHIP LIKE A SHIP AT WAR... REALLY TOUGH. !!

WE SAILED TO THE SEA NEAR TURKEY, EVERY 4 HOURS A FULL NET OF FISH WAS BROUGHT ON DECK...WE HAD 3 HOURS TO GET THE FISH ACCORDING TO SIZE IN ICE BOXS, DOWN INTO THE MINUS 18 CELZIUS FRIDGE. AND THEN ON THE WHEEL, OR CLEANING...VERY LITTLE SLEEP. IT WAS NOT EASY.

THIS WENT ON FOR 50 DAYS, AND MY DAY TO GET MARRIED IN HAIFA WAS APPROACHING ...IN 5 DAYS...SOON.. WHAT SHALL I DO?

I WENT OVER TO CARL AND SAID, VERY CAREFULLY, `` IT WAS PLANNED TO GET MARRIED IN 5 DAYS...SIR``

``OK`` HE REPLIED, WE SHALL BE BACK IN HAIFA IN 3 DAYS``......................AND YOU WILL HAVE LEAVE FOR 48 HOURS`` ......................``THAT IS ENOUGH``.

SO WE GOT TO OUR HOME PORT IN TIME... BUT THE FRIENDS AT THE WEDDING SAID ``THERE IS A SLIGHT SMELL OF FISH HERE...WERE DOES IT COME FROM``??

HAPPY DAYS.

I HAVE JUST ONE UNUSUAL STORY.......................................ABOUT THE PIGS............

MANY YEARS LATER....THE YEAR 2000, I WAS SAILING MY LARGE SAILING-BOAT.

IT WAS A FINE SUNNY DAY, AND SMOOTH SEA, LIGHT WIND. THE BOAT WAS SAILING LOVELY, ABOUT 5 KN....SLOWLY I APPROACHED THE SEAL BASE SH 13.

IN THE DISTANCE OF 4 MILES I SAW.....A PIG SURFACING UP. THE WATER WAS VEY CALM. MY BOAT WAS APPROACHING NOISELESSLY.........

I SAW 2 DIVERS GET UP AND TALK....THEY LOOKED AS IF THEY WERE ``STANDING ON THE WATER``.

SLOWLY MY BOAT APPROACHED.........THEY DID NOT SEE ME. WHEN I WAS ABOUT 200 METERS FROM THE PIG...ONE SEAL LOOKED OVER THE SHOULDER, AND HORRIFIED , HE SAW ME COMING...I COULD SEE HIS EYES GROW......AND HIS FAST MOVEMENT TO HIS FELLOW DIVER...THEY PUT ON THERE DIVING MASK, JUMPED INTO THE SEAT OF THE PIG.........AND DIVED. IT TOOK JUST 2 MIN. ALL THAT WAS LEFT WAS A RING IN THE WATER AND A FEW BUBBLES...

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PIG GO DOWN UNDER THE SEA SO FAST !
