sostanzialmente la francia ha stanziato 8 miliardi di euro per l'acquisto di 6 barracuda, l'evoluzione dei rubis ovvero dei loro battelli nucleari d'attacco.

 

in effetti è da molto che se ne parla in francia, cercano un battello con prestazioni simili ma molto + silenzioso anche se questo andasse a discapito delle dimensioni.

 

in effetti i rubis sono casinisti, mai avuto problemi a prendere contatto...

una dozzina di S1000 probabilmente. sembrano ottimi mezzi anche se il sistema di lancio dei siluri (swim out ovvero il siluro esce con la propria elica) è un po antiquato e soprattutto molto rumoroso....

Ieri il Governo francese ha ordinato 6 battelli nucleari d'attacco tipo barracuda per un importo complessivo di 7,9 miliardi di euro .

 

I sostituti dei Rubis (alcuni con ooltre 20 anni sulle spalle, sono stati ordinati ai cantieri statali DCN ed alla AREVA technicatome, saranno consegnati a partire dal 2016 e costituiranno parte essenziale della forza subacquea francese per i prossimi 50 anni.

France Orders Third Barracuda-class SSN

 

Defence procurement agency DGA has placed an order with DCNS for the third Barracuda-type nuclear-powered attack submarine for the French Navy.

 

This order comes under the framework program contract awarded to DCNS in December 2006 calling for the delivery of six next-generation SSNs between 2017 and 2028.

 

Barracuda-type SSNs will replace the six Rubis-class boats currently in service. The Barracuda weapons payload will include next-generation type F21 heavyweight torpedoes, SM39 anti-ship missiles and MdCN-type naval cruise missiles. The boats will also be fully equipped for missions with Nato naval forces and special operations.

 

DCNS is the programme prime contractor. The first-of-class Suffren and second-of-class Duguay-Trouin are under construction at the Group’s Cherbourg shipyard supported by DCNS centres around the country.

ma credo che "questa" repubblica francese stia facendo il canto del cigno e pure un po strozzato. :s06:

ho molto l impressione che visto che alle prossime elezioni qualcosa cambiera come teste in francia,

si tende aa mettere piu carne sul fuoco prima di spegnere il grill.

intendo dire che mentre americani cominciano a concretizzare altre forme di sorveglianza strategica e di persuasione strategica, la francia tra portaeri e sub cerchi di riempire uno spazio facendo dei numeri.

confesso che i somm francesi, sono anche contro il volere dei loro, legati alla catena degli americani, che hanno intenzione sopratutto dopo ultime esperienze con i francesi di accorciarla il piu possibile. cantieristicamente credo sia piu un ordine per tener in vita delle strutture e cantieri che per desiderio della marina national, visto le note difficolta di bilancio. (!)

DCNS Advances French Navy’s Barracuda SSNs

 

 

DCNS’s Cherbourg centre has completed the first pressure hull ring for the third Barracuda-type nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) almost one month ahead of schedule. This is an important milestone for a particularly ambitious DCNS-led programme.

 

The first ring of Barracuda No. 3 SSN Tourville was completed less than two years after that of Barracuda No. 2, SSN Duguay-Trouin.

 

The Barracuda construction programme is organised like a volume production programme with clearly defined cost, delivery date and performance targets. Three Barracuda submarines are currently under construction on a programme that is being carefully optimised and scheduled to make the best use of critical resources.

 

The first of the 21 steel rings making up the pressure hull of a Barracuda submarine is actually ring No. 7. It is about 9 metres in diameter, over 3 metres long and forms part of the aft third of the submarine. Ring No. 7 will house the submarine’s powerplant.

 

The Barracuda programme will make a vital contribution to the renewal of France’s naval forces and represents a significant proportion of the group’s production workload, with DCNS teams and facilities expected to work on the programme until 2027.

 

In December 2006, French defence procurement agency DGA awarded the overall Barracuda contract to DCNS, appointing the group as programme prime contractor and Areva-TA as nuclear powerplant prime contractor. The firm order placed at the same time calls for the development and construction of first-of-class SSN Suffren, the first of six Barracuda-type SSNs. The contract also covers through-life support for all six submarines during their first years of operational service.

 

The second and third tranches, confirmed in 2009 and 2011 respectively, cover the construction of the second and third of type SSN Duguay-Trouin and SSN Tourville.

 

Between 2017 and 2027, Barracuda-type SSNs will replace the Navy’s current-generation Rubis/Améthyste-class boats. Barracuda mission capabilities will include intelligence gathering and special operations (by commandos and special forces), anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, land strikes and participation in joint operations wherever the type’s interoperability and associated capabilities (discreet communications, tactical datalinks, etc.) are required. The weapons payload will include next-generation F21 heavyweight torpedoes, SM39 anti-ship missiles and MdCN naval cruise missiles.

Varato oggi il capoclasse Suffren alla presenza del presidente Macron. 10 anni per produrre un battello non sono pochi... Ma, per caso, mi è venuto in mente dell'uscita dell'ultimo film francese sui sommergibili: che strana coincidenza!

Il Suffren ha iniziato le prove in mare. Il 28 Aprile scorso ha effettuato la prima immersione statica (i sommergibilisti italiani la chiamano scherzosamente "la bagnarola")  al llargo di Cherbourg, in Normandia, dove sono allocati i cantiere che stanno costruendo i nuovi SSN francesi da 99 metri di lunghezza, sostituti degli anziani Rubis/Amethiste.
