Marco U-78 Scirè Inviato 30 Novembre, 2005 Autore Segnala Share Inviato 30 Novembre, 2005 16/3/1942 Oscilla – cisterna – NL – tsl. 6347 – smg Morosini La notte del 15, la motonave olandese Oscilla (1) di 6.341 t.s.l. che fu affondata con tre siluri ed alcuni proietti da 100 mm. L’Oscilla era stata costruita dalla "Giessn Van der Giessen & Zonen’s Scheepswerven, NV Krimpen " nel 1939 ed apparteneva alla " La Corona’ NV Petroleum Maatschappij ". L'affondamento, causò la morte di 4 membri dell'equipaggio, mentre i rimanenti 51 vennero tratti in salvo. la Vittima..... Un Ufficiale della Oscilla... Wilhem Köning The sad story of Wilhem Köning begins during the night of September 15 to 16, 1942, when the Dutch oil tanker Oscilla was torpedoed 150 miles northeast of the British West Indies by the Italian submarine Morosini. An officer on board the Oscilla, Köning as well as the other survivors were rescued towards the end of the following day by the American ship Explorer. As Holland was under German occupation, Köning had no choice other than to find another merchant ship. Therefore, in Quebec, on May 10, 1942, he boards the SS Leto, along with three other survivors from the Oscilla. Loaded with airplane engines, amongst other things, the SS Leto, a Dutch ship chartered by the British Ministry of War Transport, heads for England. .... Questa nave, al servizio della Royal Navy, apparteneva alla " Lady Somers LTD ", ed era stata costruita nel 1929 dai cantieri " Cammell Laird & Co " di Birkenhead. Tutti i 175 membri dell'equipaggio e passeggeri furono salvarsi. Il 19, avendo esaurito la riserva carburante, il Morosini cominciò il viaggio di ritorno e, malgrado la data d’arrivo non sia conosciuta, si presuppone che sia stata intorno alla fine del mese. la Vittima... Canadian National Steamship Co.; 1929; CammellLaird & Co.;8,194 tons; 420-3x60-2x30-2; 1,094 n.h.p.; 14knots; turbineengines. The steamship Lady Somers, serving as an auxiliary cruiser, Cdr. G. L. Dunbar, R.D., R.N.R., with a complement of 175 was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the North Atlantic on July 15th, 1941. Of those on board 138 survivors were picked up by Spanish ships and landed at a neutral port. Later the remainder of the crew were reported safe and there was no loss of life. Questa nave apparteneva alla " Larringa Steamship Co. LTD " di Liverpool, ed era stata costruita nel 1930 dai cantieri "Lithgows, Ltd" di Port Glasgow. Marco U-78 Scirè Inviato 30 Novembre, 2005 Autore Segnala Share Inviato 30 Novembre, 2005 12/3/42 Stangharth – piroscafo – GB – tsl. 5966 – smg Morosini ...Poco prima del tramonto, il comandante Fraternale intercettò il piroscafo britannico Stangarth di 5.960 t.s.l. affondandolo in posizione 22° 45’ N, 57° 40’ W nelle prime ore del giorno 12. Non ci sono ulteriori informazioni circa questa nave. :s06: 23/3/1942 Peder Bogen – cisterna – GB – tsl. 9741 – smg Morosini ...Continuando il perlustramento, il Morosini incappò nella petroliera britannica Peder Bogen di 9.741 t.s.l. che, la notte del 23, fu colpita con due siluri e da circa 70 proietti da 100 mm e finalmente affondò il giorno seguente. Questa nave, costruita nel 1925 dai cantieri olandesi " Dordr NV Scheepswerf Dordrecht ", apparteneva alla " South Georgia Co. Ltd ". L’affondamento avvenne in posizione 24° 53’ N, 57° 30’ W, ed i 53 membri dell'equipaggio vennero tratti in salvo. A questo punto, avendo esaurito i siluri, il sommergibile cominciò il lungo viaggio di rientro raggiungendo Bordeaux il 4 aprile. la Vittima...
