  1. Come vi avevo accennato, Grindler mi ha contattato per pianificare la partita di ritorno a side invertiti di "Viking's Battle". Questa discussione ci servirà per pianificare la partita, per le presenze usate pure quella in "International Joint Operations Command".

  3. Di seguito il debriefing della missione giocata contro gli amici del forum polacco DangerousWaters.pl. Tralascio le difficoltà tecniche che abbiamo avuto (eravamo in 12 giocatori e siamo ripartiti circa 6 volte). La nostra formazione di attacco era costituita da 3 SSN classe Victor (io, Von Faust e Iscandar), 1 SSN classe Alfa (Regia Marina), 1 DDG classe Udaloy (Drakken) e un TU-95 "Bear" (Subbuster_ITA). Il nostro comando richiedeva la distruzione della CGH 550 "Vittorio Veneto", in navigazione nella griglia nord, e CH R97 "Jeanne D'Arc", a sud; le due navi erano scortate da 3 FFG classe O.H.Perry e una FFG Type 22 (AI). Nonostante il numero di elicotteri in volo potesse dare pensieri, non è stato assolutamente questo il problema della serata. Dopo una mezz'oretta di avvicinamento a grande velocità, tutti gli SSN si sono messi a caccia di bersagli, aiutati nel compito dal "Bear" e dalla Udaloy. Sui sommergibili abbiamo fatto una grandissima fatica ad individuare gli avversari, complici i sonar assolutamente poco sensibili nonostante le ottime condizioni acustiche e la rumorosità degli obiettivi. Non posso parlare per gli altri, perché non sono riuscito a seguire per bene tutte le loro fasi di azione, ma per quanto mi riguarda sono arrivato al centro dello scenario dopo un'oretta e mezza, potenzialmente in grado di sentire la formazione "Vittorio Veneto", ma il sonar non mi ha dato alcun contatto valido e mi sono dovuto arrendere all'uso dell'ESM e del periscopio: a vista non ho individuato nulla, sulle ESM ho avuto la posiziona approssimativa della "Vittorio Veneto" in allontanamento verso ovest, da dove era venuta, e le due O.H.Perry in posizione frontale e a 90° rispetto a me. Ho sparato contro entrambe le FFG danneggiando quella di Grindler, ma è stata l'unica (magra) soddisfazione. Alcune considerazioni. Sicuramente l'aver perso Subbuster a causa di impegni improvvisi è stato un duro colpo, anche perché era l'unico in grado di avere una visione d'insieme e permetterci di studiare un piano di attacco. Anche la perdita di Drakken (a causa di CTD) è stato grave, sempre perché dalla superficie poteva aiutarci a vedere gli obiettivi. Un errore degli SSN è stato dividersi eccessivamente: potevamo operare in coppie e, senza allargarci troppo come abbiamo fatto, incrociare le (pochissime) idrofoniche valide e colpire duro e su rilevamenti sicuri. Anche l'AI di DW ci ha incasinato le cose: il fatto che i nostri bersagli non abbiano seguito le direttive e siano tornate indietro ci ha tolto le restanti possibilità di ottenere una qualche forma di vittoria (i nostri avversari hanno distrutto tre SSN che erano allo sbando a causa del CTD di Regia Marina, Von Faust e Iscandar). La cosa positiva è che lo scenario in mare aperto è molto piaciuto ai nostri avversari, che continuano a farci i complimenti. Subbuster ha giustamente suggerito di avvicinarci alla realtà studiano scenari che consentano di essere ancora più indipendente dai trigger e dalle AI: vedremo di mettere la cosa in pratica.
